ODS (OpenDocument Spreadsheet) is the native spreadsheet format of LibreOffice (and the older OpenOffice). It is based on an open XML standard and has also been supported by Microsoft Excel since 2013 (from version 2007 with Service Pack). Although ODS is widely used, XLS or even XLSX is generally more suitable for sharing with customers and business partners, as XLS is supported by virtually every spreadsheet application. If the file is only to be read, conversion to PDF is even recommended.
